Learn about Plastics in the EECCA Region

The EECCA region, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan, faces major challenges in plastic waste management. Despite initial regulations on single-use plastics, enforcement is weak, and recycling rates are low due to unorganized waste collection and limited public awareness of plastic dangers. Harmful substances like brominated flame retardants and bisphenol A have been found in recycled plastic products, highlighting the need for better waste management, increased awareness, and stronger regulations to combat the plastic crisis in these countries.
