NGOs Call for Inclusion of Plastics and Polymers in the ESPR

HEJSupport has co-signed a joint NGO letter urging the European Commission to prioritize the plastics and polymers sector in the first Working Plan of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). This step is critical to improving the environmental sustainability of plastic products early in their lifecycle, addressing harmful additives, reducing pollution, and fostering a circular economy.

The undersigned organisations urge the EU Commission to include the plastics and polymer sector in the forthcoming first Working Plan under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR).

Plastics and polymers play a central role in multiple industries and significantly impact health and the environment. Including this sector in the ESPR will ensure better transparency, traceability, and design of these materials to reduce waste and harmful substances.
