A new report from the Danish Technological Institute highlights a critical obstacle to eliminating PFAS: more than one in four companies don’t know whether PFAS are present in their products or supply chains. Many also struggle to obtain reliable information from suppliers and lack the knowledge needed to identify suitable alternatives.
This is why chemical information transparency is fundamental.
Without clear information on chemicals in products, companies cannot:
✔ identify PFAS across complex supply chains,
✔ substitute them with safer alternatives,
✔ demonstrate compliance with evolving regulations,
✔ or support truly safe circularity.
The report shows that the transition to PFAS-free products is often achievable once companies have a clear overview of where PFAS are used. The real bottleneck is access to reliable chemical information.
As governments and businesses accelerate the phase-out of PFAS, we need harmonized systems that ensure chemical information follows products throughout their lifecycle.
