Immediate action is needed to reduce the risks of PVC and its additives

HEJSupport joined more than 60 civil society organizations calling on the European Commission to phase-out PVC by 2030.

In the press release published on 29 November 2023, civil society organizations welcomed the publication of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) investigation report on PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and its additives. The report indicates the environmental and health harm caused by certain substances added to and microparticles emitted from PVC.

The ECHA report supports the conclusion that EU policymakers must take immediate action to reduce the risks of PVC and its additives. In addition, ECHA confirms the existence of safe alternatives in various applications.
