EU Commission delays publication of chemicals fitness check outcome

On June 27-28, 2019, the EU Commission is hosting a high-level conference on the future of the European Union’s chemicals policy. One of the reasons for this event is the outcome of the evaluation of all chemicals policies excluding REACH. However, this document has not been released, yet.

Twenty-seven civil society organisations have expressed their concerns about this delay. In a letter to the European Commission, they highlight that this failure adds to another missed deadline: the delivery of a European non-toxic environment strategy, which the Commission committed to through the sevenths Environmental Action Programme.
