Celebrating achievements of the Retail4Impact initiative

#HEJSupport is part of the Retail4Impact initiative (https://www.oneplanetnetwork.org/programmes/consumer-information-scp/product-sustainability-information/retail4impactvU ) that builds upon the 10 principles of the UNEP Guidelines for Providing Product Sustainability Information (https://www.oneplanetnetwork.org/knowledge-centre/resources/guidelines-providing-product-sustainability-information ) under UNEP #10YFP (https://www.linkedin.com/search/results/all/?keywords=%2310yfp&origin=HASH_TAG_FROM_FEED&sid=pu4).

The Retail4Impact initiative’s primary goal is to empower retailers and brands to apply sustainability principles effectively, enabling them to make credible and transparent green claims about their products. Increasing regulatory requirements, consumer expectations, media scrutiny, NGO advocacy, product recalls, and emerging market opportunities are all pushing companies to better understand and communicate the chemical composition of their products and supply chains.

As demand for transparency grows, companies that remain reactive—responding only when forced by crises or regulation—risk significant hidden liabilities associated with chemicals of concern. Such liabilities have previously cost companies tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars, damaged brand reputations, and eroded market share and valuation. See, for example, The business case for knowing chemicals in products and supply chains (https://www.saicm.org/Portals/12/documents/meetings/ICCM4/inf/ICCM4_INF17_CiP%20Business%20case.pdf ).

Retail4Impact builds on existing initiatives and resources to enhance the capacity of retailers and brands to manage and communicate product sustainability, including making reliable claims about chemicals in products.
